  • Completed Master's course at the University of Tokyo (Physics), Doctor of Engineering from the University of Tokyo
  • After joining Mitsubishi Atomic Power Industries, Inc. in 1972, he has been engaged in the design, manufacture, and construction of fusion devices for over 50 years. From the early stages of fusion research and development in Japan, he has been consistently involved in the advancement of fusion engineering, from the design and production of experimental devices to the development and procurement of large equipment in international collaborative projects.
  • He led the design, manufacture, and construction of the vacuum vessel for the JT-60U project, contributing to the establishment of Japan's fusion technology base.
  • From 1993, he participated in the ITER international central team, overseeing the design and R&D of the vacuum vessel and blanket. Subsequently, he served as Vessel Division Head at the ITER Organization, directing the design, procurement, and manufacturing of large equipment such as the vacuum vessel, thermal shield, cryostat, and Vacuum Vessel Pressure Suppression System (VVPSS), promoting the construction of ITER through international cooperation.
  • He currently serves as Emeritus Fellow at the ITER Organization and as Chairman of WG Vacuum Vessels, ASME Sec. III Div.4. Fusion Energy Devices, contributing to the development of international standards for fusion equipment.
  • He is committed to advancing fusion engineering and passing on technology to the next generation, utilising the experience and knowledge he has cultivated.
